Carol L. Mitchell, Ph.D., is Deputy Director of the Center for Amazonian Scientific Innovation, and a fellow at the Center for Energy, Environment and Sustainability at Wake Forest University. Carol is a tropical ecologist, with a degree in Zoology from the University of California at Davis, and a master's and doctorate in Biology from Princeton University USA. From 2005 to 2018 Dr. Mitchell was Deputy Director of the South Florida Natural Resources Center at Everglades Park, US National Park Service. She previously worked for 20 years in the Peruvian Amazon in tropical rainforest conservation, leading technical teams with World Wildlife Fund, Duke University and Conservation International. She has experience in science for conservation in Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, Peru, India, the Philippines, and Bangladesh.
