Dr. Julio Araújo is an aquatic biologist and leads CINCIA's Aquatic Biodiversity program. Julio holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Huelva, Spain.   He has extensive experience in establishing monitoring systems and wildlife in places of interest for conservation and protected areas. He has worked as a biologist in a number of research projects focusing on biodiversity conservation, the transformation of the environment from artisanal mining, agriculture, and large infrastructure run by the National Amazon University of Madre de Dios, the National Major University of San Marcos, the Carnegie Amazon Mercury Project (CAMEP), the University of Florida and Duke University.
